PRESS RELEASE
(24th June 2007)
AST Turnover Passes £3M For The First Time

Applied Scintillation Technologies (AST), one of the leading suppliers of advanced imaging and detection solutions using phosphor and scintillation technology, has announced record figures for the financial year 2006-7. With both orders and sales exceeding £3M for the first time, new CEO, Dr. Glenn Tyrrell, said: "These are tremendous times for AST. We have just completed a management buyout, undergone a significant expansion and passed the 3-yearly company-wide audit for ISO9001, all against a backdrop of strong sales."

Sales and Marketing Director, Stuart Quinn, said: "Our strategy of establishing and developing key accounts has been highly successful and we have seen a significant increase in orders from the Far East. There has been particular growth in the dental and oil exploration markets and we have also worked closely with Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the US to develop neutron scintillators that will be used in their novel neutron diffractometers and detectors. Not only have we broken our record for order intake, we have started the new financial year with an extremely healthy order book".

The growth in the dental market has led to a major expansion in AST's caesium iodide (CsI) coating capabilities at its Harlow UK manufacturing plant. A significant investment in both plant and personnel means that there is now double the capacity for coating detectors with the active scintillator layer used for producing digital X-ray images in the dental industry.
