Applied Scintillation Technologies (AST) Announces New Board
Appointments
AST has appointed Ray Hawkins as Manufacturing Director and
Iain Reid as Finance Director.
Since joining AST in 2002, as Production Manager, Ray Hawkins
has significantly improved the operational effectiveness of
the production unit resulting in improved customer service.
He has over 15 years production management experience and
his previous employers include STC and Nortel.
Iain Reid, as well as being a qualified chemist, has extensive
financial and commercial experience including 15 years with
Harlow Chemical Company as Group Management Accountant.
Maurice Blanchard, Managing Director says, " The addition
of Ray and Iain to the AST Board will give us a multi-disciplinary
team of “hands on” professionals to meet our future
business growth".

and Technology) award was issued in 2001 following extensive
research into the processes to deposit columnar CsI:T1 on
large area active matrix flat panel imagers for high performance
digital medical x-ray imaging. The SMART scheme is highly
competitive and only provides funding to companies who show
outstanding innovation in new products and processes.
AST is also a key member of the EU Fifth Framework, a consortium
headed by Professor Ken Smith at Glasgow University, whose
focus is to devise and manufacture 3-dimensional x-ray and
neutron detectors for imaging.
