AST Launches New Xio Range of High Performance Caesium Iodide
Scintillators for X-Ray Digital Imaging
Applied Scintillation Technologies (AST) launches the Xio
range of Caesium Iodide (CsI) based x-ray scintillators. The
use of AST’s new Xio range in digital capture methods
provides a more sensitive technique, requiring lower x-ray
doses, eliminates chemical processing and facilitates immediate
image display and storage of records. The first product available
is Xio F1, which utilises high quality fibre optic plates
(FOPs). Xio F1 gives competitive performance to existing CsI
fibre optic based products but at more attractive prices!
Application Areas
Typical applications of Xio F1 requiring high-resolution images
include:
Intra-Oral
dental imaging
Extra-Oral
dental imaging
Non-Destructive
Testing for engineering materials, electronic inspection and
a wide range of other industry imaging needs
Xio F1 is a structured thallium doped caesium iodide (CsI)
layer on high quality FOP which offers:
Superior
contrast – ideal for soft tissue imaging
Enhanced
resolution from the columnar structure CsI
High absorption
of low x-ray energy to allow reduction of x-ray dose to patients
Maximum screen
size of 140 mm diameter
Protects
CCD from radiation damage (>99% x-ray absorption at 70kVp)
