Applied Scintillation Technologies (AST), one of the world’s leading suppliers of advanced imaging and detection solutions using phosphor and scintillation technology, has announced record figures for the financial year 2008-9. Both orders and sales exceeded £3M, with sales showing an increase of almost 11% compared to 2007-8, while orders reached an unprecedented £3.7M.
This is the second complete financial year since the management buyout of AST in January 2007, and AST Sales & Commercial Director, Stuart Quinn, said: “These are tremendous figures for AST, especially in the context of the world economic climate. Whilst sales often reflect the performance of the previous financial year, order intake very much represents current activity and this was a phenomenal performance”.
“The significant growth in digital dental radiography is a key factor in our success”, he continued. “We received the company’s largest ever single order, for phosphor-coated fibre optic plates used for digital dental X-ray imaging. However, sales of neutron detection screens which are in use at many of the world’s leading high energy physics research facilities have also held up strongly”.
“We have further strengthened our production and QC facilities”, he concluded, “which, combined with our willingness to work in co-operation with customers to provide the optimum solution to their needs, allows us to provide the flexibility in design, development and manufacturing necessary in these fast-moving and challenging environments”.
